GUIDE 1 – IN THE STUDIO

Lightroom Magic: Vibrant Backgrounds and Focused Edits

Learn how to enhance your photos with selective edits, creating stunning visuals with Lightroom.

Highlight Your Subject

Select Subject: Begin by using the Masking tool and choosing “Select Subject.” Lightroom’s AI will automatically identify your main subject.

Invert Selection: To focus on the background, click the ellipsis (…) and select “Invert Subject Selection.” The red overlay indicates the targeted area.

Craft a Vibrant Background

Selective Adjustments: With the background masked, use Lightroom’s sliders (e.g., Color, Exposure, Saturation) to make specific edits.

Mood Matching: Fine-tune the colors to create a cohesive theme. In this example, enhancing the cool tones of the wall adds to the photo’s overall mood.

Enhance Overall Light

Exposure Control: Adjust the “Exposure” slider to brighten or darken the entire image. This is especially useful for correcting photos that are too dark.

Clean Up Distractions

Healing Brush: Use the Healing Brush to remove any unwanted spots or distractions.

Brush Size: Utilize the bracket keys ([ ]) to adjust the brush size for precise editing.

Targeted Healing: Click the Healing Brush icon on and off to work on different areas of the photo.
